William (Bill) Alan Ross, age 76, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan after complications from a stroke. He left this world with his family by his side, just as they always were throughout his incredible life. Bill lived life to the fullest in the only way he knew how - with a smile on his face, a beer in his hand, and a wisecrack at the ready, destined to lighten the mood of any social assembly privileged to share his company. Bill’s family would like to invite you to join them for a Celebration of Life at Cardinal Country Pizza in Millington from 3-7 pm on Friday, December 3rd to honor Bill’s memory and legacy by sharing stories, laughter, food and drinks, as we bid farewell to a legend in the community.
William Alan Ross was born on March 23, 1945, in Flint, MI, to the late Loyal and Dorothy (McDiarmid) Ross. After a rebellious childhood, Bill graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1963, where he met the girl of his dreams, Vicki Lynne Frock. A short time later, on June 12, 1965, Bill and Vicki were married. During their 56 years together as husband and wife, Bill and Vicki shared many cherished moments and memories together. They built a house in the quaint village of Millington where their three children could grow up free from the constraints and stresses of city life. Years later, to keep the house in the family for generations to come, Bill and Vicki selflessly offered up the house to their eldest daughter and her growing family, knowing that they no longer needed all of that space as they lived out their golden years together. Bill began his employment with the Flint Journal in 1967 where he would flourish for 38 years, retiring in 2005 as the Mailroom Foreman. When he wasn’t working hard to support his family, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, playing golf and softball, and hanging out with his friends. Above all else, Bill loved time spent with his family. He especially enjoyed gathering with them at his cottage near Higgins Lake during the summer.
Bill is forever loved by wife, Vicki; three children: Dana (Lyle) Mudge, Toni (Tim) Narsted, and Ryan (Ashley) Ross; six grandchildren: Logan (Ken), Karlie (Brad), Timmy (Ashley), Tyler, Kaylee, and Samantha; four great-grandchildren: Emersyn, Hudson, Colton, and Nova; sisters, Susie Bentley and Loretta Hilliker; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his sisters, Ginger and Janette.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Kidney Foundation.
