William H. Force

Mr. William H. Force, affectionately known as Bill, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the age of 84. Born July 16, 1940, in Vassar, Michigan. Bill was a dedicated family man whose warmth and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.

Bill's educational journey began at Vassar High School, where he laid the foundations for his future. Following college, he contributed to the workforce for several years, making a mark at 7-Up Bottling and Eagle Distributing, where his work ethic and dedication were admired by peers. Bill married his forever sweetheart, Constance (Connie) Hitsman, from Millington, on August 25, 1962, and together they celebrated 62 years of marriage. Bill and Connie lived in Flint for several years while raising their four children before moving back to the Millington/Vassar area. 

Bill's joy in life was evident through the cherished moments shared with his children and grandchildren. He had a fondness for playing Euchre, often engaging in friendly competition with family and friends. Many will remember him sitting beside bonfires, enjoying the outdoors and creating memories that will last a lifetime. His love for chocolate and ice cream was well-known among his family, as he often indulged in a sweet treat. He was also a lifelong Elvis Presley fan, along with old rock & roll and gospel music. Bill's gentle, giant spirit will be dearly missed by so many. 

Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Connie (Hitsman), and their four children: Jeana (Clark) Legue, Lauri (Randall) Gandy, Sheri (Norm) Cunningham, and Jim (Stacey) Force. His legacy continues through his seven beloved grandchildren: Jade (Demetrius), Scarlett, Clayton, Shannon (Ella), Wyatt, Pierce, and Sterling. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Lou Drew, and sister-in-law, Dolores Force, as well as extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Wanda Force; father-in-law and mother-in-law Merle & Felice Hitsman; his brother, Gerald Force, and his brother-in-law, Leland Drew.

Visitation will be held at Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Bill's funeral service will be at the funeral home on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 12:00 PM; additional visitation from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial to follow in Millington Township Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be directed to the family discretionary fund c/o Mrs. Connie Force or Thumb Area Mud Runners /Tuscola County Christmas program. 

Bill's gentle nature and unwavering devotion to his family will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to those he leaves behind.
