Travis Opperman

Travis Mark Opperman, 31, of Millington, Michigan, passed away early Sunday morning June 23, 2019 surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous fight with cancer.

Travis was born in Flint, Michigan on March 25, 1988 and was the son of Mark and Carrie (Moon) Opperman.  After graduating from Millington schools Travis enlisted in the US- Army and proudly served as a Combat Engineer (route clearance) as part of the 41st engineer company, aka the “Bulldawgs” of Fort Riley, KS home of the Big Red One.  Throughout his military career (2007-2015) he received many awards, his most honorable being the Purple Heart- received during the Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) tour in Afghanistan (2009-2010).  After being honorably discharged Travis loved spending time with his family and many friends.

Those left to cherish Trav’s memory, his parents; Mark & Carrie Opperman, a sister Jasica Martin. His grandparents; Jim & Greta Opperman, Dale & Kathy Moon. His extended family include uncles & aunts; Jim & Lori Opperman, David & Lisa Opperman, Dan & Heidi Opperman, Matt & Kelley Opperman, Kaylinjoy and Kevin Peplinski, Tim & Lisa Moon, and Curt & Marcia Moon.  Nephew and niece Jacob & Amarli and several other extended family members. Travis also leaves his special friends that were at his side; Nate, Meagan, Katie, Emily, David, and Adam.  Travis is preceded in death by an Uncle Scott Moon, and a brother in-law Cameron Martin.

The Opperman family will receive friends at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington, MI [4935 W. Center Street] on Thursday June 27, 2019 beginning at 11:00 am up until services begin. Funeral services for Travis will also be on Thursday June 27, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church beginning at 2: 00 pm. Pastor James Bruner will deliver the eulogy and funeral message. Services will then be concluded with Military Honors.
