Thomas M. Godmer

Mr. Thomas “Tom” Merle Godmer, age 82, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan.

Tom was born in Bay City, Michigan on February 16, 1942, to Merle & Loretta Godmer (née Dubay). He retired from General Motors after over 30 years of service. He married the love of his life, Karen McMan, on June 30, 1962. Together they shared countless memories, raised their three daughters, and celebrated 62 years of marriage. He and Karen were avid campers and camped around the state, but their favorite spot was Glennie, Michigan. Tom enjoyed building and was “Mr. Fix-It” and passed the time with yodelling. Above all, Tom loved his family and the time he spent with them; he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Godmer; daughters, Brenda (John) Green, Sheri (James) Goodman, Mary (Louie) Schwerin; grandchildren: Justin (Felicia) Green, Tyler (Bella) Green, Jessica (Chris) Hempsall, Jennifer (Lane) Gable, and Kevin (Angie) Goodman; great-grandchildren: Austin (Alicia) Ferrell, Rebecca (Jake) Goodman, Katelyn (Brian) Langley, Halen Green, Ryder Green, Lleyton Green, Hudson Green, and Brayden Colby; great-great-grandchildren: Maze Ferrell and Atlas Langley; brother, Raymond Godmer; sister, Berthann Ainsworth; as well nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Merle & Loretta; sister, Marylee Godmer; and brother, William “Bill” Godmer.

Visitation for Tom will be at Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025. Funeral services for Tom will be at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Otisville, MI at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025; visitation at church will begin at 10:00 a.m. and last until the time of service. Burial to follow in Millington Township Cemetery.
