Terry D. Walker

Friday, July 7, 2023, Terry Donald Walker passed away in Tucson, Arizona, from complications of a lung disease. He was 75 years old.

The son of Donald and Phyllis Walker, Terry grew up in Alma, Michigan. In 1960, the family moved to Millington, Michigan where Terry and his sister, Sharon, completed high school. Terry always had fond memories of his classmates, teachers, and sports where he took part in baseball and basketball. 

After attending both the University of Michigan and Central Michigan University and graduating in business, Terry joined the finance team at General Motors. Drafted into the Army in the early 1970s, he spent his assignment as a finance specialist, first at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC and then in Bangkok, Thailand.

During his long career as a finance manager at GM, Terry made his home along the Cass River in Vassar, enjoying the wildlife there and several beloved pets. Upon retirement in the early 2000s, Terry reconnected with a friend who grew up in Millington, joining her in New Mexico and, finally, settling near Tucson, Arizona.

Terry truly enjoyed life as a retiree.  Always an ardent fan of the Michigan Wolverines, he never missed viewing Big Ten basketball and football.  Passionate about travel, he especially enjoyed exploring cities, including a return to Bangkok, frequent visits to San Francisco, Vancouver, New York City, London and Paris.  His favorite getaways usually included Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Maui.

Terry found great happiness in classic rock music. He traded in sealed vinyl albums, took in live concerts in Las Vegas and shared with friends his vast knowledge of the history of rock music.

Always interested in the lives of influential people, Terry was a devoted reader of biography, especially the lives of US presidents, rock musicians, writers and artists. Above all, he is remembered by family and friends as a gentle man with a kind and generous spirit.

Terry leaves his partner Lanna Keller, sister Sharon Beam, nieces Wendy Sutherland (Brian), Kimberly Van Wormer (Eric Johnson) and their families, cousins, friends and neighbors. He will be greatly missed. Terry was predeceased by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4-7PM at Hanlin Funeral Home - Millington, on Thursday, August 24th, 2023. Interment will be at 11AM on Friday, August 25th, in Millington Township Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Pet Angel of Frankenmuth or The Humane Society.
