Sharon (Brown) Coward

Mrs. Sharon Joyce (Brown) Coward, age 71, of Millington, went home to be with our Lord in the early morning hours of Wednesday May 19th, 2021. Sharon was born on April 2, 1950. The youngest of four children born to the late Lowell “Punk” and Lanora (Smith) Brown, also of Millington.

On November 7, 1970 Sharon married Mike Coward and together they have celebrated 50 years of marriage. Sharon was a lifelong Millington resident. She loved her small-town surroundings and never wanted to move more than a few miles from the childhood home she grew up in. Sharon graduated from Millington High School in 1968 and went on to cosmetology school. From there it was not long before she opened her very own salon- The Country Goose Beauty Nook. She stayed active in the community doing volunteer projects, serving with the Millington Genealogical Group, and maintaining an active membership with her church. Sharon loved cooking and baking for her loved ones, sewing, and keeping up with all the activities of her many countless friends. But, above all else Sharon loved to see her family happy. Her love for them knew no limits.

Sharon leaves to cherish her memory her husband Mike; four children: Dan (Heather) Coward, Dennis Coward, Darin Coward, and Dana (Tim) Baker, two grandchildren Timothy and Tanner Baker. Sharon also leaves a sister Mrs. Shirley Mays, three sisters- in law Mrs. Nancy Brown (Brooks Vineyard), Mrs. Maxine Buhl, and Lillie Ann (Ken) Williams, incredibly special friend Chantel Derks, many nieces, nephews, and many close friends. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Lowell and Lanora Brown, mother and father in-law Leon and Betty Coward, Two brothers Raymond and Jerry Brown, a brother in-law Joe Mays, and a sister in-law Sally Williams.

The family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, on Sunday from 1:00pm until 7:00pm and on Monday at the Millington Church of God (4855 Barnes Rd. Millington, MI.) from 11:00am until the services begin. Funeral services will be on Monday May 24th, 2021 beginning at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at the Millington Township Cemetery in Millington, MI. Pastor Greg Capsel will deliver the eulogy and closing prayer at the cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the church. Gifts of remembrance can be made to the Millington &Arbela Historical Society, The Millington Community Center or to the charity of ones choosing.
