Royce Shamel

Mr. Royce Shamel of Vassar, formerly of Millington, Michigan passed from our world into Gods Kingdom early Tuesday morning January 29, 2019, Royce was 78.

Royce was born on November 7, 1940 in Millington, Michigan and was the son of the late G. Roy and Ida (Manwaring) Shamel.  Royce grew up in Millington and graduated from Millington High School. Royce served his country by serving in the United States Army. After the Army; Royce returned home and became a truck driver and retired as a career driver for various trucking companies. Royce drove for many years for Pepsi Cola, and also worked as an operational manager.  On April 8, 1972 Royce married Sandra Eremia, and together they have celebrated 46 years of marriage. Royce and Sandra were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church were Royce was very active in the choir, Royce sang for Sunday, Holidays, Weddings, and Funerals.

Royce leaves his wife; Sandra. He leaves also his family; brother, George (Edith) Shamel, Donna Dean, and his sister in-laws Phyllis Shamel and Mary Rezler. He leaves also his extended family; Bettyann Steadman, Jacqui (Mike) Mandich, Bill (Lynette) Eremia, Mike Eremia (Mary Flannery) Mary Ralston, Janet Eremia, and many nieces, nphews, and other family and friends. Besides his parents, Royce is also preceded in death by brothers; Ronald (Tuffy), Albert, and Wayne, sisters; Betty and Beatrice, a brother in-law Alden Dean. In-law; John and Helen Eremia, brother in-law, Earl Steadman, and brothers; Robert Eremia, and Bruce Eremia.

The family has honored Royce’s request and cremation has taken place. The Shamel family will receive friends at the St. Paul Lutheran Church beginning at 10:00am on Saturday February 9, 2019. There will be a celebration of Royce’s life also on Saturday February 9, 2019 beginning at 11:00 am. Memorial Gits of remembrance can be directed to the family.
