Roger D. Hartwick

Mr. Roger Dean Hartwick “No. 7”, age 78, our caring, loving, hard-working, and devoted husband, father, “Papa”, and friend passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Roger was born in Cass City, Michigan, on August 28, 1946, to Clayton & Virginia (née Ball) Hartwick. Through friends he met Norma Bergman. The two dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on August 9, 1969. Together they shared 55 years of marriage, countless memories, and raised their children Jeff and Angie. Before retirement in 2000, Roger worked with Super Foods as a truck driver and was known to many as “No. 7”. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and deer hunter. He enjoyed hunting & working on the family farm in Cass City, and restoring old tractors, especially John Deeres. Roger also enjoyed trips out west to Wyoming and to Raber Bay in the U.P. Above all, Roger loved his family and being “Papa” to his beloved grandchildren. He was their biggest supporter, and he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Norma; children, Jeff (Renée) Hartwick, and Angie (Kenny) Sebert; grandchildren: Candace (Andy) Gohs, Courtney (Ethan) Willson, C.J. (Melissa) Heckroth, Tanner (Cally) Heckroth, Logyn (Mitch) Zuehlke, Kodee (Chelsea) Sebert, and Koltyn (Leigha) Sebert; great-grandchildren: Noah, Natalie, Lauren, Lindsey, Rowen, Ravyn, Brooks, Swayzii, Marshall, Kentyn, and Harper; as well as extended family and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elwyn; son-in-law, Darin; granddaughter, Miranda; in-laws, Ed & Florence Bergman, Roger, Mary, and Jim.

A memorial gathering & luncheon will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the family farm (5161 Cumber Rd, Ubly, MI).

In lieu of flowers, to honor Roger’s love of his family, please spend time together with one’s own family making special memories.
