Richard "Rich" Lee McLaren Jr., 44, of Columbiaville, MI, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 23, 2021. He was known as a funny, fun-loving, kind, tender-hearted, hardworking, and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
Rich was born on July 3, 1976 in Flint, Mi to parents Richard (Ric) Sr. and Ginny (Duvall) McLaren. He cherished his role as older brother to his siblings Steve and Jen, reminding them frequently that he was the oldest! On August 27, 2011, Rich married the love of his life, Angela Andersen. Together they blended their families and lives, and made their house into a home. Rich was a carpenter and worked in construction for many years. He was employed by McCurdy Construction in Millington and he took pride in his workmanship and skills. He loved his job and the friendships he made there.
Rich loved the outdoors and enjoyed any season that he could be on a motorcycle, snowmobile, 4-wheeler, or boat! He also loved fishing, camping, hunting, music, holidays, celebrations, and making people laugh. Above all, Rich deeply loved his family and friends and made countless memories with them. His motto in life was “Carpe Diem” (Seize the Day) and it was evident in his enthusiasm and passion for life. He was a friend to all and everyone’s best friend.
Rich is survived by his wife Angela; children, Austin (fiancée Nicole) McLaren and Levi McLaren; stepchildren, Caitlin (Brian) Walter, Heather (fiancé Matt) Esterline, and Jacob Esterline; grandchildren, Madalynn, Lydia, Isaiah, Noah, and (soon-to-be) Hudson; parents, Ric and Ginny McLaren; brother Steve McLaren and his wife Rita and daughters Emily and Addison; sister, Jen Buike and her husband Craig and their children, Abbi, Isaac, and Emerson; as well as several other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
