Richard (Dick) Cobb

Mr. Richard J. (Dick) Cobb a life long Millington resident passed away early Friday morning February 15, 2019, Dick was 83.

Dick was the son of the late Cleo & Marie (Buecher) Cobb, and was born in Otter Lake, Michigan.  Growing up in Millington he graduated from Millington High School.  On March 16, 1957 Dick married Miss Elaine Hahn, and together they have celebrated nearly 62 years together. Dick had established a successful career working for Universal Engineering, United Plastics, and IT & T when he purchased a family General Store in Millington, from his father Cleo Cobb.  This business, AH Cobb & Company was started in 1915 by his Grandfather Albert Cobb. Dick served on the Millington Village Council for several years, and was elected Millington Township Supervisor; where he served for 10 years and then served as Township Clerk for another 9 years. Dick loved his community and always looked out for the community’s best interest. His sense of humor and his friendly grin will be missed but never forgotten.

Dick leaves his wife Elaine. He leaves also five children; Richelle (Ricki) Hagle, Colette (Coco) Ballentine, Jim Cobb, Tonja (Jim) Foskett, and Leisa (Michael) Mayette.  He leaves many beloved grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and a brother Mike Cobb; many, many, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.  Besides his parents, Dick is also preceded in death by; a brother David Cobb, sister Mary Anne Muiringer, and two grandchildren, grandson BJ, and a granddaughter Rosie, and several of his extended family.

The family has honored Dick’s request and cremation has taken place. The Cobb family will host a time of visiting and sharing on Thursday February 21, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 p m at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington.  There will be also a brief time of visiting on Friday morning; February 22, 2019 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. Beginning at 12:00 pm there will be celebration of Dick’s life. In lieu of flowers the family would like everyone to consider memorial gifts of remembrance to be directed to; Millington – Arbela Twp. Library, Millington – Arbela Twp. Fire Dept, or the Millington Community Center. Envelopes for anyone of the three will be available at the funeral home.
