Mr. Richard F.  (Dick) Hauger of Millington, Michigan passed away Sunday morning March 14, 2021 with his wife and family by his side, at the age of 82.

Dick was born in Millington, Michigan on July 7, 1938, and was the son of the late George and Christine (Meister) Hauger. Dick grew up in the Vassar area and graduated from Vassar High School in 1957. On December 28, 1957 Dick married Miss Betty J. McTaggart and together they have celebrated 63 years of marriage. After high school Dick served our country in the US-Army and was stationed in Germany. As he returned from the Army, Dick went to work for the Eaton Foundry in Vassar, MI and retired under the Grede Foundry (formerly Eaton) as a plant Superintendent.  Richard was very active in the Knights of Columbus, and extremely active in the Catholic Church of Millington and Vassar; served as president of the St. Frances Catholic Federal Credit Union fo 30 years.  Richard was an avid outdoorsman and hunter and was involved in many aspects of the Millington community.  Richard’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dick leaves to cherish his memories; wife Betty Darling and 5-children. Kevin (Cindy) Hauger, Kenneth (Mary) Hauger, Kurtis (Suzanne), Hauger Kari (James) Johnson, and Korrie (Richard) Savage. Twelve grandchildren; Stephanie (Thomas) Stamps, Sara (Kyle)  Stewart, Shay Hauger, Kyle, Ryan, Michael Hauger, Christopher (Mara) Hauger , Caitlin (Austin) Nash, Elizabeth Hauger, Connor, Emily and Grace Savage; and four great grandchildren Cadence and Alyssa Stamps, Morgan and Mackenzie Stewart------. Dick also leaves his two sisters: Lorraine Hayes, and Frances Hauger of Vassar, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.  Besides his parents Dick is preceded in death by; two brothers, LeRoy and William Hauger, and two sisters Jane Millikin and Verbia Babcock

Friends may call at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI on Wednesday March 17, 2021 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm, and for a brief time at St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar, MI on Thursday from 11:30 am until the mass begins.  The Funeral Mass will  begin at 1:00 pm on Thursday March 18, 2021 at the St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church. The burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Vassar, Michigan. Military Honors will be conducted.  Memorial Gifts of Remembrance can be directed to the family for a memorial to be established in Honor of Richard F. Hauger.
