Obituary
Born July 20, 1929 in Butler, TN to Tennessee Taylor and Juanita Tanner McCloud. Max graduated from Mount Hope High School in 1949. Max married Phyllis Mae Jones on June 1, 1950 in Mount Hope, West Virginia.
Max served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. After serving his country he got his degree from Berean School of the Bible. He was ordained through the Assembly of God in 1960. He pastored churches in West Virginia, Virginia, and Michigan in his 70 years of pastoring.
He is survived by the love of his life, Phyllis, his sweetheart of 74 years. Together they had 4 children: Renee (Rick) Foster, Larry (Shelly) McCloud, David (Lori) McCloud, and Regina (Jim) Armstrong. 11 grandchildren: Heidi (Tony) Pusey, Stacy (Jason) Vincent, Ryan (Tammy) Baldwin, Craig (Melissa) McCloud, Amanda (Ben) Bishop, Kyle (Lesley) McCloud, Kayla (Jeff) Lund, Megan McCloud (Don Warren), Kelsey (Phillip) Sullens, Hannah (Devin) Platte, and Taylor McCloud.
He was also blessed with 24 Great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Tennessee Taylor McCloud & Juanita Tanner McCloud, and his 8 brothers: Brice, Edwin, Ernie, Lonnie, Clyde, Ralph, Gene, and Beryl.
Max loved Studebaker cars, mowing the lawn and sitting on his front porch and waving at people as they drove by.
His family, wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the joy of his life. He was a pastor for 70 years and considered his church members as family. Over the years he and Phyllis had three motor homes that they travelled in with grandchildren to church camps sharing the love of Christ.
Pastor McCloud’s legacy of praying for each of his family members and friends will go on in all the souls he led to His Lord and Savior.
Max's family would like to give a special thanks to Wellspring Hospice for their loving care of him. Rachel & Jodi were his angels here on earth and are now adopted into the McCloud family.
