After 52 years of marriage, Mr. William (Bill) Henry Gilbert passed from our world into God’s Glorious Kingdom early Wednesday afternoon at his residence in Millington, MI . Bill was born in Bay City, MI to William and Lydia (Quintel) Gilbert on March 19, 1940. After high school Bill proudly served in the United States Marine Corp where he served in Okinawa and the Philippines. On July 17, 1965 Bill married Miss Barbara Kuras at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bay City, MI. Together they celebrated the birth of their three children and two grandchildren. Bill was employed for 37 years at General Motors starting with Fischer Body and retired out from the Buick Division of General Motors. Bill loved the outdoors which included hunting, fishing, camping, attending Millington High School football games and spending time with friends and family. Along with attending the high school football games, Bill enjoyed watching University of Michigan football. He also loved cruising to various destinations in his 1977 Corvette. Some of his most precious memories were taking his grandson on rides in Grandpa’s fast car.
Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son Bill and (Carole Leach) Gilbert; his daughters, Cheryl Gilbert, and Julie and (Michael) Daenzer; and two grandchildren, Zachary and Alexis Daenzer. He also is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lydia Nowak and sister, Mrs. Elizabeth and (Darrell) Smith. Bill is preceded in death by his father William Gilbert and step-father Leonard Nowak.
