Mrs. Teresa Elaine (Stratton) Greenwood of Vassar, Michigan passed away peacefully and entered God’s Kingdom late Saturday afternoon January 23, 2016, Teresa’s family was at her side, she was 53.
Teresa was the daughter of the late Jerry and Rose (Schultz) Stratton, and was born in Elgin, Illinois on Oct 7, 1962. Teresa grew up in Vassar where she graduated from Vassar High School. On November 17, 1979 Teresa married Timothy (Tim) Hallie Greenwood, and together she and Tim have celebrated 36 years of marriage. Teresa was retired from the Vassar Public School System and had been with the Vassar School’s for 28 years as a Pre-School Teacher. She loved teaching and was so excited that she was actually teaching children of children she had taught a generation before. Teresa was a member of the St, Luke’s Lutheran Church where she served on the Alter Society, taught Sunday school and at onetime sang in the choir. Teresa’s true joy were her and Tim’s children, Tim and Tabitha; when they started their families and Teresa and Tim became grandparents. Family was her true passion.
Teresa leaves her husband Tim. She leaves also; Dr. Timothy H. and Jennie Greenwood Jr, Tabitha and Carrie Sugden; grandchildren, Madilynn, Timothy III, Elizabeth, Thomas, Kolbe, Kayden, and Grace. She leaves also a sister and brother in-law; Teena and Larry Rose, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Besides her parents Teresa is also preceded in death by her grandparents, and several other extended family members.
The family has honored Teresa’s wish and cremation has taken place. There will a celebration of Teresa’s life on Saturday January 30, 2016 at 11:00 am. The service will be held at the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Vassar, Pastor James Plucher will deliver the eulogy. The Greenwood family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 am. There will be a celebration dinner following the services.
Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington has been assisting the family with arrangements, there will be no services or visitation at the funeral home. Memorial gifts in Teresa’s memory can be directed to the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, envelopes will be available at the services on Saturday.
