Mrs. Sonya Bearss

Mrs. Sonya Kay Bearss of Millington passed from our world into God's kingdom Monday October 15, 2012 while at the Henry Ford Medical Center in Detroit, Sonya was 70.

She was the daughter of the late Eaton Jacob & Gladys ( Harrmon) Denman, and was born on October 19, 1941 in Secord Township in Gladwin Michigan. On July 21 of 1959 Sonya married her husband of 52years Roger E. Bearss. Sonya drove school bus for the Millington school system from 1977 until her retirement in 2004. She was a member of the Arbela United Methodist Church of which she served on the church board as the recording Secretary. She also was very involved in helping with the youth of both the Arbela United Methodist and also with the Millington United Methodist Church. Sonya attended many of the churches Bible studies, and she loved to travel. Her deepest passion was her family, the grand kids, her friends, and people in general. Her warm smile, her friendly hugs will be missed, but will live on in the many hearts that she touched in her lifetime.

Sonya leaves her husband Roger, her children, daughter and son in-law, Shawn & George Faris, son and daughter in-law Roger & Ronna Bearss, six grandchildren, Christena, Antonio, Kimberly & husband David, Briar, Bryce, Brynn, four great-grandchildren, Michael, Dallas, Bryaden, and Noah. Sonya leaves also a brother and sister in-law, David & Joyce Denman, sister & brother in-law, Gaynol & husband Jack Riley, a brother in-law Ralph & wife Maryanne Bearss, two sisters in-law Martha & husband Pastor Gill Burgeson, and Ada Beers, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Besides her parents Sonya is also preceded in death by her mother & father in-law, a brother and his wife Larry & Shirley Denman, and a brother in-law and his wife Larry & Nancy Bearss.

Funeral services for Sonya were held Saturday October 20, 2012 at the Millington United Methodist Church. Pastors Bruce Malicot, Pete Crawford and Gill Burgeson all shared in the services. The burial followed at the Newton Cemetery in Arbela Township. Memorial Gifts of remembrance can be directed to the Arbela United Methodist Church.
