Mrs Ruth Hancock

Mrs. Ruth Hancock, of Millington, MI; beloved mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother passed away early Tuesday morning Feb.7.2017 at her Murphy Lake residence. Ruth was 93.

Ruth was born in Royal Oak, Mich. August 7th,1923. She was the daughter of the late Viola(Schroeder) and Albert Rockentine. She graduated from Royal Oak high school. When she graduated, she was hired by Michigan Bell and as she was working the whole switchboard lit up (WWII) had started with the bombing of Pearl Harbor! Her and her husband, Floyd were married Aug 5, 1945 in San Francisco toward the end of the war. Floyd proceeded her in death in March of 2012 also proceeding her in death where her beloved son, Greg Hancock, three grandchildren, Gregy Hancock, Amy Hancock, and Cody Carlisle. Ruth was an active member of the Millington community all her life. She was a den mother, Woman's Club president, lifelong member of the Methodist Church and also worked for many years as an aid and cashier for Millington Community Schools. Ruth and her Floyd where great travelers and also had a cabin "up north" in Rose City. Ruth was known for her cooking; her warm smile, and her great love of children.

Surviving are her children, Kristine and Raleigh Simpson, Floyd and Mary Hancock Jr, Charles Hancock, Kari Carlisle, Becky Hancock, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. Ruth also leaves a brother and sister in-law Bruce and Shirley Rockentine, as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The Hancock family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI on Friday Feb.10th 2017 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and for a brief time at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the services begin. Funeral service will be held at the Millington United Methodist Church on Saturday Feb. 11, 2017 at 11:00 am. The burial will follow at the Millington Twp. Cemetery in Millington, MI.
