Mrs. Rosalyn Jakubik

Mrs Rosalyn E. (Rosie) Henderson - Jakubik of Millington passed away suddenly Monday April 7, 2014 at her residence, Rosie was 84.

Rosalyn E. Henderson the daughter of the late Floyd & Emma (Holtz) Henderson was born in Flint Michigan on December 15, 1929. Rosie was a lifelong resident of Millington where she was valedictorian of her graduating class from Millington High School. Her picture still hangs in the high schools "Hall of Valedictorians." On November 27 of 1948 Rosie married Mr. Walter Jakubik, and together they celebrated 59 years of marriage before Walt passed away in 2007. Rosie worked as a clerk at the Henderson Drug Store for many years, but prior to working at the drug store she worked at the Millington Grain Elevator as their bookkeeper, and in her earlier years she worked at the Lapeer State Hospital. Rosie was very active in our community, she loved to bowl in the winter months and golf in the summer. She was an avid reader. Rosie loved passing time when she wasn't bowling or golfing just setting reading one of her favorite authors. If there was a bingo game to be found she usually would be there playing bingo with her daughter and other friends. In the winter months Rosie would also on Tuesday evenings go to the St. Paul Zoom-ba classes. Rosie was a member of the Millington-Arbela Historical Society she was also a lifelong member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Rosie leaves her family; son, Steve Jakubik, daughter and son in-law, Elaine & husband Jim Zwerican, son & daughter in-law, Rod & Tammy Jakubik, and son & daughter in-law Wayne & Sandy Jakubik, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, a sister in-law, Eleanor & husband Ron Moore, several nieces, nephews and other extended family. Besides her husband and parents Rosie is also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Funeral services for Rosie were held on Friday Apr.-11-2014 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Honoring Rosie's wishes following the services cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be buried at a later date at the Millington Twp. Cemetery. Memorial gifts in her memory can still be directed to the Millington - Arbela Historical Society, or the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
