PAULINE E. (Mc Querry) CARROLL, of Millington, passed away peacefully May 18, 2016, after a short hospitalization. Pauline was born December 13, 1920 in Grain Valley, Missouri to Paul and Susan Mc Querry. She married her college sweetheart, William T. Carroll on May 15, 1943. He preceded her in death after 48 years of marriage in 1991. She attended University of Missouri, and University of Chicago, and went on to be an educator, and administrator (Steppng Stones) in the Flint School District. She was a school board member in Millington schools for a few years. After retiring, Bill and Pauline enjoyed traveling and spending time with their grandchildren. They had a deep love of nature/ the out of doors. During the 1970's, they helped run Luminquest, an outdoor education program for children. After she became a widow, Pauline traveled the world with her Missouri college friend, June Carroll. Pauline had a joy for life. She played piano, and enjoyed listening to a variety of music. She enjoyed gardening, and had a large garden every year. She read veraciously. She loved to ride horses and rode Missouri /Tennesee saddle horses until she was 89. Pauline was also a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Vassar.She leaves behind three children, John Allen Carroll (Jeanne Stoppels), Mary Carroll Yusten (Steve Yusten), Elizabeth Ann Kellaway (Michael Kellaway) six grandchildren, Dustan Dinshaw, Forrest Carroll, Rose Cusack, (Tim) Michael Kellaway Jr., (Tamra)Nathan Kellaway, (Jennifer) and Matthew Kellaway, and seven great grandchildren.
The Carroll family has honored their mothers wish and cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of her life on June 5, 2016 (Sunday) beginning at 11:00 am at then Hanlin Funeral Home. Following the services at the funeral home there will be a reception and a time of fellowship at the First Presbyterian Church in Vassar, MI beginning at 2:00 pm. Hanlin Funeral Home has been assisting the Carroll family.
