Leota passed away early Sunday evening November 27, 2011 while at the Maple Woods Manor Nursing in Clio, Michigan, Leota was 90 years old.
Leota Reed was born on May 16, 1921 on the family farm to parents, Martha and Walter Honold. She was baptized, confirmed and married in St. Paul Lutheran Church. She married Donald "Scotty" MacLaren in 1939. They were founders of the Millington Truck Body Company and poured all their young energy into this business. Scotty died in 1951. She married Charles S. Reed who died in l988. Their infant son, Charles S. Reed, Jr., died in 1954.
Leota is survived by her three daughters, Dianne E. Wright of Clio, Patty (Stan) Burkowski of Millington and Sally Y. Guy of Louisville, Kentucky. She is also survived by her sisters, Marjorie Schuler and Donna Smithson.
She leaves eight grandchildren, thirteen great grand-children and four great-great grandchildren. Her grandson, Sam Beebe, predeceased her in l987. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, cherished friends and special neighbor, Randy and Karen Graham.
The family wishes to express thanks and appreciation to the devoted caretakers who looked after her while she was still at home and who provided excellent care and companionship. She was especially attached to her loving grand-daughter, Victoria Beebe.
We would like to express our deepest thanks to the unbelievable staff at Maple Woods Manor who made Mom's final journey easier. Mom is now at peace in the arms of her Savior. Funeral Services were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington on Thursday December 1, 2011 Pastor James Bruner delivered the funeral message and closing prayers at the cemetery. The burial followed at the Millington Twp. Cemetery. Contributions can still be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, or the charity of one's choice.
