Mrs. Judy A. (Brinkman) Harpst of Vassar, MI passed away peacefully late Tuesday evening August 28, 2018, at the age of 77.
Judy was born in Saginaw, Michigan on February 13, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Carl and Myrtle (Haas) Brinkman.
Judy grew up in Frankenmuth, MI where she was confirmed and became a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. She graduated from Frankenmuth High School and then went on to attend Ferris State College where she received her license in Cosmetology.
On October 22, 1960 Judy married the love of her life Homer E. Harpst of Birch Run, MI. Judy and Homer lived on the family farm in Birch Run until their retirement years where they then moved to Vassar, MI to be closer to their children. Homer and Judy both then became members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington, MI.
Judy leaves behind her family; son Richard Harpst, daughters; Christina (Randy) Wolverton, Rachel (Donald) Tereau, and Jodie (Scott) Addington. Her grandchildren; Adam (Elizabeth) Wolverton, Brandon Tereau, Jessica (Julian) Jesberg, Ashley Wolverton, Rebecca Tereau, and Joper Addington. Judy also leaves her sisters; Marilyn Loizes, Julia Raymond, and Eileen (Harold) Harpst, and one brother; Edward Brinkman. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her parents Judy is preceded in death by her husband Homer in November of 2017, and two brothers, Fredrick and Thomas Brinkman.
Friends may call at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI on Monday September 3, 2018 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and on Tuesday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington, MI where Judy will lie in state from 12:00 pm until services begin. Funeral Services for Judy will be held on Tuesday September 4, 2018 beginning at 1:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Vassar, MI. Pastor James Bruner will deliver the funeral message and the closing committal prayer at the cemetery. Memorial Gifts of Remembrance can be directed to the Memorial Tree at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, or to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
