Heaven gained an amazing angel Mrs. Jacquelyn Ann (Hawkins) Koch of Vassar, MI passed away suddenly early Saturday evening July 16, 2016. Jackie was 86. She was greeted by her husband Joe, and they are now walking together the streets of gold.
Jacquelyn Ann Hawkins was born in Merrill, Michigan on January 5, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Harry and Renew (Olds) Hawkins. Jackie was married to Joseph Koch, and together she and Joe raised their family in Vassar, MI. For 32years Joe and Jackie owned and operated the Vassar Building Center. After retirement Jackie helped out at the Vassar elementary schools and St. Paul Lutheran School in Millington, and at the Seven Rivers Christian School when she wintered in Florida. It was her passion to make sure the children had some positive reinforcement in their lives before each school day ended. All the children loved her and she became known as "Grandma". Jackie has been currently attending the Richfield Church of the Nazarene in Otisville, MI. She was an amazing woman of God and always kept everyone in her prayers.
Jackie leaves; her family. Kim and Jim Esckelson, Debi and Dale Mallory, Lauri and Neal Johnson, and Matt and Melissa Koch. Her eight grandchildren; Jill and Scott Anderson, Nick Mallory, Josh and Amy Koch, Karli and Dusty Turner, Russ and Amy Johnson, Courtney and Evan Hirt, Nicole and Jacob Hedrick, and Katie Jo Johnson, eight great-grandchildren, with 3-expected any day. Jackie leaves also nieces, nephews, other extended family, and many friends. Besides her parents, Jackie is also preceded in death by her husband Joe, a sister Pat Breidinger, a brother in-law and his wife Larry and Katherine Shirely.
The Koch family will receive friends at the Richfield Church of the Nazarene(located 7524 E. Mt. Morris Rd/corner of Irish Rd. Otisville MI) where Jackie will lie in state on Tuesday July 19, 2016 from 11:00 am until the service begins. A celebration of Jackie’s life will begin at 2:00 pm on Tuesday. A private burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Vassar, MI. Memorial gifts of remembrance can be directed to the Seven Rivers Christian School.
