Mrs. Ellen Beckrow

Mrs. Ellen R. Riness – Beckrow of Vassar, Michigan passed away early Friday morning November 20, 2015 at her residence with her family at her side. Ellen was 88.

Ellen was born in Watertown Township, Michigan on July 13, 1927 and was the daughter of John and Lula (Donigan) Mecham. On December 20, 1952 Ellen married Thomas Riness together she and Thomas celebrated 25 years of marriage before Thomas passed away in 1977. Ellen later married Wilmer Beckrow in 1997, they celebrated 14 years before Wilmer passed away in 2011. Ellen was an active member of the Juniata Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, sang in the Choir, and took her turns in the nursery. She was also for many years active in the group T.O.P.S.

Ellen leaves her three daughters and their spouces; Viola and Tom Dues, Mary Ann and Dale Minkler, and Elaine and David Swalding. She leaves also 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren a great-great granddaughter, along with nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Besides her husbands; and parents Ellen is also preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and William Riness, and a brother John Meacham.

The family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI on Monday Nov. 23, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and also for a brief time Tuesday morning and hour prior to services. Funeral services for Ellen will be on Tuesday November 24, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Hanlin Funeral Home. Pastors E. Gilmore and Phil Green will deliver the eulogy and funeral message. The burial will follow at the Millington Township Cemetery. Memorial gifts of remembrance can be directed to the Juniata Christian School.
