Mrs. Edna Weiss

Mrs. Edna M. (Leidel) Weiss of Millington, passed peacefully to her Heavenly Home on Saturday December 26, 2015. Edna was 91.

Edna was born in Frankenmuth, Michigan on March 4, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Bernhard and Martha (Keinath) Leidel. On June 29, 1947 Edna married Norman Weiss, and together Edna and Norman have celebrated 68 years of marriage. Farming was a way of life for Edna. She grew up on a farm and was a farm wife. In addition to helping Norman on the family farm she also worked for 32 years in the sorting room at the Burns Egg Farm. Edna was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was once active in Altar Guild, the Dorcas Society, and the ladies quilting club. Edna showed God’s beauty in the tapestry of her beautiful flower gardens and in the many quilts she made.

Edna leaves; husband Norman, the children and their spouses, Judy and Wally Laux, Kathleen Krey, Shirley and Rev. Bert Thompson, Eugene and Julie Weiss, Dallas and Glenda Weiss, 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and a sister Mrs. Esther Lienerth. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Edna is also preceded in death by a brother Victor Leidel, and a sister Marion Zehnder.

The Weiss family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington on Monday December 28, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There will be a brief time of visitation on Tuesday beginning at 12:00 noon at the St. Paul Lutheran Church.. Funeral services for Edna will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday December 29, 2015 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington, Michigan. The burial will follow at the Millington Township Cemetery in Millington. Pastor Kirk Abatelli will deliver the funeral message and the closing committal prayer at the cemetery. Memorial gifts of remembrance can be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
