Mrs. Dorothy Hawkins

Mrs. Dorothy V. (Culhane) Hawkins of Millington, MI passed away while at her daughter’s residence in Vassar, MI. Dorothy was 91.

Dorothy V. Culhane was the daughter of the late Margaret (Kurbitz) and Thomas Culhane and was born in Flint, MI on February 20, 1927. On March 22, 1944 Dorothy married Harvey Hawkins, she and Harvey celebrated 67 years of marriage before his passing in 2011. Dorothy is also preceded in death by a brother and four sisters. Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother, and a member of the Red Hat Society-Red Hens.

Dorothy leaves her children. Four daughters, Sharon Shirkey, Linda (Fred) Colosky, Dorothy Stanley, and Kathleen Sampson. She leaves also 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 5- great-great grandchildren. Dorothy leaves also several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Friends may call at the Vassar Nazarene Church on Wednesday (located at the former Eagles Baseball Park 3822 W. Saginaw Rd. Vassar, MI 48768) where the family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the services begin. Funeral services for Dorothy will also be held the Vassar Nazarene Church on Wednesday April 11, 2018 at 2:00 pm. A private burial will follow at the Millington Twp. Cemetery. Memorial gifts of remembrance can be directed to the Vassar Church of the Nazarene.
