Mr. Russell Henderson

September 20, 1958 — January 8, 2016

Russell Scott Henderson, age 57, passed quietly on January 8, 2016 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan.

Born September 20, 1958 in Flint, Michigan to the parents of Lewis and Beverly Henderson, he attended Millington public schools. As an adult, Russell relocated to Texas, living in Ranger and Dallas, until he moved back to Michigan in 2015.

Russell built a life in Texas, where he worked at several jobs, but was most proud of the work he did as a mechanic with the Dallas Fire and Rescue Department. Not only did he enjoy the work, but he also was one of the best mechanics they had. When not working, Russell could be found putting together die cast model cars or watching NASCAR, as he was a huge NASCAR fan, and a car enthusiast. He was also quite the entertainer among his family and friends as he loved telling “corny jokes” and making others laugh along with him.

Russell will be especially remembered as a man with a big heart. He loved his children and family and was very compassionate to others. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonice Delaine Henderson. Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Lewis and Beverly Henderson; Brothers, Lewis Henderson, Charlie Henderson and Bradford Henderson; Children, Laura Henderson, Steve Henderson, Bogan Worley, Ashton Henderson, Britton Mann and Hayden Henderson; Grandchildren, Jenna, Alexis, Alec, Jaida, Chelsea, Joshua, Jacob and Jeffery; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A special thank you to the staff and volunteers at Covenant Hospital Harrison for their loving care and support. Russell will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. The memorial service will be held at Mount Morrison Church of Christ, 1262 South Street, Mount Morrison MI 48458.
