Mr. Richard Rohde

Richard (Dick) Rohde of Millington passed away early Tuesday evening December 16, 2014 while at the Covenant Health Care Center - Cooper Campus in Saginaw, Dick was 87.

Richard Rohde was born on July 8th of 1927 in Dearborn, Michigan and was the son of the late Edward & Emma (Radke) Rohde. On September 25th of 1948 Dick married Miss Linda Weber and together he and Linda have celebrated 66 years of marriage. Dick retired from as a pipe-fitter from the Buick Motor Division of General Motors. He along with partner Arnold Higgins owned and operated Rohde & Higgins Hardware in Millington for many years, the hardware was located on East Main Street across from the Post Office. Dick was also active at one time with the Millington - Arbela Twp. Fire Department, serving as an officer and retired off the department after 27 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he once served as an Usher and was at one time active on the building committee, Dick was also a charter member of the Millington Lions Club.

Dick leave his wife Linda, children; daughter Faith Damm, son Alan and his wife Sally Rohde, daughter Barb and her husband Scott Bassett, six grandchildren; Suzanne, Stacie, Jeffrey, Bryan, Derek, and Brett, six great grandchildren, a brother and sister in-law Erick and wife Effie Rohde, several nieces, nephews extended family and friends. Besides his parents Dick is also preceded in death by a son in-law Clayton Damm, a brother and three sisters.

Service Information

Funeral services for Dick were held on Friday December 19, 2014 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church and the burial to followed at the Millington Twp. Cemetery. Pastor James Bruner delivered the funeral message and the closing committal prayer at the cemetery. Memorial gifts of remembrance can be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Lions Club Leader Dog program.
