Mr. Reed Harris Schlicker a long-time Vassar resident passed away late Saturday evening December 3, 2016 at the residence of his very dear friend Peggy. Reed was 65.
Reed Harris Schlicker was the son of the late Clarence and Bertha(Abarham) Schlicker and was born on January 11, 1951 in Saginaw, Michigan. Reed was retired from the Kurtz Gravel & Concrete Company where he was employed as a heavy truck driver. Reed also served the Vassar community as a fire fighter for 14 years. He loved to play golf, hunt, and loved to cook. At deer camp, he became the camp chef. Not only in deer camp was he the chef but he was also the neighborhood chef for summer cook outs and neighborhood parties. Reed was a member of the Vassar FOE # 2380, he also had a love for bassett hounds, and had many over the years.
Reed leaves to cherish his memory. Son; Justin Schlicker and Reed’s dear friend and caretaker Peggy Reid, a sister Jeanine (Schlicker) Collison; as well as other friends, and other extended family.
The Schlicker family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, Michigan on Wednesday December 7, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and on Thursday from 10:00 am until the funeral begins. Funeral services for Reed will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday Dec. 8, 2016 at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, MI. The burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Vassar, Michigan Pastor Greg Capsule will deliver the funeral message and the closing prayer at the cemetery. Memorial gifts of remembrance can be directed to the Schlicker family.
