Mr. Mervin Cole

Mr. Mervin A. Cole of the Arbela Twp. and Millington areas passed away Thursday May 12, 2011 while at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw, Mervin was 91.

Mervin was born in Arbela Twp. on June 21, 1919 and was the son of the late Roy & Anna (Klock) Cole. On Oct 14, 1938 Mervin married Miss Violet M. Morley. He and Violet celebrated nearly 67 years of marriage before her passing in April of 2005. Mervin served our country in the US-Army during WW II. When he returned home he went to work for Universal Engineering in Frankenmuth MI, where Mervin retired after 40 plus years of employment. Mervin was a member of the St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth MI.

Mervin leaves his four children; Elaine & husband Richard Zink, Karen & husband Don Anderson, Doug & wife Kathy Cole, and Penny & husband David Fournier, 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as other extended family members. Besides his wife and parents Mervin is also preceded in death by three brothers; Russell, Heber, and Herbert Cole. The funeral services for Mervin were held on Monday May 16, 2011 at the Hanlin Funeral Home. The burial followed at the Newton Cemetery in Arbela Twp. Pastor Mark Brandt delivered the funeral message and the closing prayers at the cemetery. The Conrad-Wager & Keene American Legion Post #164 of Millington concluded services with Military Honors. Memorial Gifts of Remembrance can be directed to the St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, or the Heart Association.
