Mr. Matthew Gasper

Matthew (Matt) Gasper a longtime Millington resident passed away Friday December 5, 2014 while at the United Hospice Center in Marlette MI, at the age of 91.

Matthew Gasper was the son of the late Matthew & Madeline (Brula) Gasper, and was born April 10th of 1923 in Duluth Minnesota. As a young man Matt served our country in the US-Navy during WW II. After the war he returned home and married Miss Dorothy Perkins, he and Dorothy have celebrated 67 years of marriage. Matt was employed with General Motors working in the maintenance department of Flint Truck and Bus. Matt was a member of the Millington United Methodist Church.

Matt leaves his wife Dorothy, two sons and daughters in-law; Dennis and wife Darla Gasper, Dan and wife Kathy Gasper, and daughter in-law Diane Gasper. He leaves also eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one brother Bernard Gasper, as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family. Besides his parents Matt is also preceded in death by a son Matthew David in 1972, and two sisters Madeline, and Adeline.

Funeral services for Matt where held Monday December 8, 2014 at the Hanlin Funeral Home. The burial followed at the Millington Township Cemetery. Funeral services and prayers of committal will be conducted by Pastor Pete Crawford. Final Military Honors at the Cemetery will be conducted by the Conrad-Wager & Keene American Legion Post 164 of Millington. Memorial gifts of remembrance can be directed to a charity of one's choice.
