Martin James (Marty) Damm Sr. from Millington, MI passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint from injuries received in a lawn mower accident one week prior. Marty was 70 years old.
Martin was born on March 10th 1941 in Pigeon, Michigan to Eittle and Mable (Schaaf) Damm. Martin joined the army in 1959 and served 2 years in Korea. Upon return, Martin married Carolyn Kaye Bremer and had two children before her death in 1969. On October 31st 1970, Martin married Delores Moll and together they celebrated 40 years of marriage and had two more children.
Martin worked at Saginaw Steering Gear for 21 years in addition to building and operating a dairy farm with his family in Millington. Martin also served as a director for the Thumb Electric Co-Op for 28 years. In later years after the cows were gone, Martin continued farming and working in his workshop doing projects for Millington Elevator, Blasius Inc. and others, and visiting with anyone who stopped by. Marty was very active and a friend to everyone.
Martin leaves behind his wife Delores Damm, four children, Tammie and Ted Meyers of Hemlock, James and Cindy Damm of Vassar, Michael and Rebecca Damm of Millington, and Martin Jr. and Karrie Damm of Frankentrost as well as 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Martin is survived by his siblings Dorothy Putnam of Mayville, Lloyd and Delores Damm of Gagetown, Margaruite Turner of Caro, Joyce Hecht of Fairgrove, Evelyn & Ron Sharko of Millington, Lillian Benson of Farigrove, Clayton & Faith Damm of Vassar, Ken & Connie Damm of Millington, Merry Lou & Tom Kusant of Minnesota, a special nephew Tom Sharko, as well as numerous other nephews and nieces and close friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday June 1, 2011 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington.
