Mr. Karl Dahlstrom

Karl J. Dahlstrom of Millington passed away early Tuesday morning at the Genesys Hospice Center in Goodrich Michigan, Karl was 75.

Karl was born in Flint, Michigan on September 15, 1937 and was the son of the late Walter & Evelyn (Shaw) Dahlstrom. Growing up in Flint MI, Flint became not only where Karl was from, it became the city of his career. Karl served 24 years with the City of Flint Fire Department. Karl filled many positions while on the department, but retired in 1988 as a Pump Operator. Karl loved the outdoors, he loved to hunt, fish and just walk through the woods. Spending time with family and friends was also cherished by Karl. On February 18, 1957 Karl married his wife of 56 years Karen Bouchard.

Karl leaves his wife Karen, four children, daughter Terri & husband Mitch Powell, Karl Dahlstrom, Dan Dahlstrom, and Matthew & Lisa Dahlstrom, five grandchildren; Tracy & Steve Gleeson, Nicholas & Marshelle Powell, Derek Dahlstrom, and Troy Rhodes, five great-grandchildren; Jenna, Travor, Abigail, Luke, and Annalei, two brothers; Walter & Kenneth Dahlstrom. Karl leaves also other extended family and friends. Karl is preceded in death by his parents, and friend Battalion Chief Ed Pethers

Service Information

Karl spent a career training others for their future in the fire department, so the family has honored Karl's request and his body has been donated to U of M Medical School to continue training young upcoming doctors and nurses for the future. There was a time of sharing and gathering on Tuesday June 11 at the Millington Church of God, followed by a memorial service that Pastor Greg Capsule delivered the eulogy, and closing prayers.
