Mr. John VanWagoner Sr

Mr. John R. VanWagoner Sr. of Millington, Michigan passed away Wednesday February 3, 2016 while at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan, John was 76.

John was born in Saginaw, Michigan on May 24, 1939 and was the son of the late Milo and Lottie (Walker) VanWagoner. He was employed for 37 years with Buick City in Flint, Michigan. John retired from Buick in 1999. He was a member of the UAW Local 599, Millington Masonic Lodge 470, Elf-Khurfeh Temple, Knights Templers, and the Blue Lodge. On December 20, 1972 John married Jolene Anaman , and she and John have celebrated 43 years of marriage.

John leaves his wife Jolene. He leaves also a son and daughter in-law John and Sara VanWagoner II , step-children; Ray, Sherry, Janice, and Judy, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew, and other extended family. Besides his parents John is preceded in death also by a sister Genevieve.

The VanWagoner family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington on Friday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Saturday there will be a brief visitation from 11:00 am until the services. Funeral services for John will be on Saturday February 6, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Hanlin Funeral Home. The burial will follow at the Millington Township Cemetery. On Friday evening the Millington Masonic Lodge #470 will conduct a memorial service. Memorial gifts of remembrance can be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
