Mr. Henry James Fent long time Vassar resident passed away late Thursday afternoon March 29, 2012 while at the Cartwright Center in Saginaw Township, Henry was 88.
The son of Ellsworth and Mary (Leach) Fent Henry was born in Saginaw Michigan on August 17, 1923. Henry was a graduate from Vassar High School class of 1942. After high school Henry served our country during WW-II in the US-Army. In September of 1946 Henry married Miss Margaret Snider, he and Margaret celebrated 39 years of marriage before her passing in 1985. In 1953 Henry started his business known as the "Henry Fent Distributor" distributing fuel oil and gasoline too many Vassar area residences, Henry retired from the distribution business in 1983. Henry served forty one years on the Vassar Fire Department retiring off the department as a Captain in 1992; Henry also served on many other community and civic organizations, and was also a life member of many of these organizations.
Henry leaves to cherish his memory his children; Dennis & wife Nancy Fent , Peggy & husband Allen Spencer, and Paul & wife Kathy Fent, seven grandchildren; Jodi & husband Patrick Weymers, Jeff Hecht & friend Dawn Ayotte, Kristy & husband Jason Beardslee, Kevin & wife Tracy Fent, Jennifer Spencer, Jason Spencer & friend Jessica Dues, and Aaron Fent, five great-grandchildren; Lexy and Zeke Spencer, Mason & Grady Fent, and Tanner Hecht. Henry also leaves a brother and sister in-law, Louie & Sandy Fent, a sister Elizabeth Hoard, and a brother in-law William Astbury, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Besides his wife Henry is also preceded in death by a daughter Yvonne (Fent) Hecht, daughter in-law Nancy Fent, and a son-in-law Eddie Hecht.

Funeral services for Henry were held Monday April 2nd 2012 at the Hanlin Funeral Home; Pastor Dan Gonder delivered the funeral message and the closing prayers at the cemetery. The burial followed at the Riverside Cemetery in Vassar.
Military Honors concluded the services at the cemetery. Honors were conducted by the Conrad-Wager & Keene American Legion Post 164 of Millington.
