Mr. Floyd B. Shaffer Jr. of Vassar Mi formerly of Millington, Michigan passed away late Sunday afternoon February 1st 2015 while at the Select Specialty Hospital of the Covenant Health Care Harrison Campus in Saginaw MI, Floyd was 83.
Floyd was born on July 13th of 1931 in Turner Michigan, the son of Floyd B. and Susie (Boyer) Shaffer Sr. On April 14th of 1951 Floyd married Miss Shirley Boger and together he and Shirley have celebrated 63 years of marriage. Floyd worked for the National Gypsum Company for 11 years and retired from the Buick Motor Division of General Motors after 33 years of service. Floyd loved spending time with his son's deer hunting on his property up north.
Floyd leaves to cherish his memory i wife Shirley; three children; Rhonda and husband Mike Sykes, Dennis and wife Robin, Namman and wife Karen; six grandchildren; Scott Kowitz, Benjamin Kowitz, Brooke Shaffer, Alicia Shaffer, Nicole Shaffer, and Jacob Shaffer, two great grandchildren; Taylor Blackmer, and Grace Kowitz. One sister, Leah and her husband Harold Schonmeier. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Erma and her husband Leroy Schutte.

The family has honored Floyd's request and cremation has taken place. There will be a time of share and remembrance on Saturday February 7th, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, Michigan. At 3:00 pm a brief eulogy will be given by Pastor Tony Jacobs. Following the eulogy the family would like to invite everyone to a dinner and a time of fellowship at the Millington Community Center.
