Mary Kuhnle

Our generous and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt Mary Kuhnle passed away on December 25, 2022. She was 79.

Mary was born on August 24, 1943, to Gwen and Mary (Logan) Cheek. Mary grew up in Vassar, MI and attended High School there. After high school she married the love of her life John Kuhnle in May of 1961. They were married 61 years and had two wonderful children. Mary liked to golf, go bowling, traveling and card club. Her favorite trips were to Las Vegas on her annual Mother’s Day girls Trip’s as well as taking her family on many Bahama vacations. She really enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their Cabin on Walloon Lake in Charlevoix, MI. She loved watching her great niece play travel softball for the Riverdawgs, she hosted the team several times for overnight stays at the cabin. She enjoyed her daily lunch trips with her mom and sister at Vassar Liquor bar in Vassar. Most importantly Mary loved nothing more than spending time with her family and making them happy.

Mary is forever loved by her husband John. Children: James (Barbara) Kuhnle, and Mary Lynn (Robert) Burkowski. One grandson, John Gerald. Her mom Mary Cheek. Sister, Karen (Jerry) Warner. Niece, Jennifer Colosky. Great niece and nephew, Sarah and Nicholas.

She is preceded in death by her father, Gwen and nephew Gerald.

The family would like to invite you to Hanlin Funeral Home Vassar Chapel (1148 W. Saginaw Rd.) on Thursday, December 29, 2022, for a time of visitation beginning at 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. The funeral for Mary will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Vassar, MI (885 Saginaw St.) with at time of visiting before at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers please make a memorial donation to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
