Mr. Marvin “Mert” George Rodemsky, age 104, a longtime resident of Millington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at Vassar Comfort Care, Vassar, MI.
Marvin was born in Detroit, MI, on September 5, 1919, to parents George & Katherine (Heuman) Rodemsky. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Buick City after 43 years of service. Marvin met the former Arlene H. Fischhaber. They dated, fell in love, and were wed on August 31, 1946. Together they shared 70 years of marriage, raising their children, and countless memories before Arlene’s passing in 2016. Marvin was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and enjoyed gardening. Further he was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Above all, he enjoyed time spent with friends and family.
Marvin is survived by his children: Paula (Larry) Burza, Charlene (Guy) Campbell, and Vincent (Michele) Rodemsky; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Arlene and his siblings.
Marvin’s family will welcome visitors to Hanlin Funeral Home – Millington from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023. Funeral services for Marvin will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church (4941 Center Street, Millington, MI 48746) at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023; additional visitation at church from 12 p.m. until the time of service. Afterwards, Marvin will be laid to rest next to his wife, Arlene, in Millington Township Cemetery and receive military funeral honors.
