Loraine (Schluckebier) Petzold

Loraine (Schluckebier) Petzold of Millington, Michigan passed quietly from this earth into God’s heavenly home surrounded by family early Saturday evening February 8, 2020, at the age of 86.

Loraine was born May 16, 1933 and was the daughter of Alfred and Linda Schluckebier. She married Melvin Petzold in May of 1954. They celebrated 27 years together and were blessed with three children Debbie (Merlyn) Hodge, Dan (Patty) Petzold, and Kevin (Jackie) Petzold.

Loraine worked as an accountant and retired after 25 years from Superfoods. She was a lifetime member at St. Paul Lutheran Church and volunteered her time as a teller and worked on the funeral dinners. She loved to bake; Butterhorns, Fudge-nut bars and her special recipe meatloaf were all her family’s favorites. Her home was always a place of laughter and for making memories. The kids and grand-kids knew she always had cookies baked and there was a bag of chocolate chips hiding somewhere too.

Loraine enjoyed playing games and cards and looked forward to every opportunity when family and friends could be together. In her quiet time, she enjoyed crocheting beautiful afghan’s for family members and as gifts for weddings and baptisms. She also donated many of them to Covenant hospital for the preemies and up to two year old babies, she also enjoyed doing counted cross-stitch.

Loraine will be forever remembered by her children and spouses, nine grandchildren and spouses, seventeen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family members. She had been looking forward to her 1st great- great grandchild due in July and taking a 5-generation picture. Loraine is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister Marilyn VanWormer.

The family has invited family and friends to Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington, Michigan on Tuesday February 11, 2020 for a time of visitation from 2:00pm to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be Wednesday February 12, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington, Michigan at 11:00am with a time of visitation before the service starting at 10:00am, and the burial to follow at the Newton Cemetery in Arbela Township. In lieu of flowers her request was to make a donation to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
