Lewis E. Henderson, Sr., age 82, passed away quietly on December 31, 2020 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan.
Born April 6, 1938 in Flint, Michigan to the parents of Charles and Pearl Henderson. At age 19 he married the love of his life Beverly, age 18, and together they had their four sons. Celebrating love and happiness in their marriage for 64 years.
Lewis worked for General Motors for 32 years driving a forklift. Though he did not mind putting in an honest day’s work, he anxiously anticipated retirement so he could enjoy spending time with his family and pursuing other interests. He enjoyed many things, but thoroughly enjoyed woodworking, playing card games, and challenging anyone to a game of chess. He especially loved to challenge his grandchildren to a match and would tell them, “When you beat me, you will win $100”. However, his true joy came from spending time with his family whom he loved dearly. Lewis was a God-fearing man and a member of Mt. Morris Church of Christ attending every chance he could.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Beverly Henderson; sons: Lewis Henderson, Jr., Charles Henderson and wife Sandra, and Bradford Henderson and fiancé Julie; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Albert Hoschna and sister, Carol Crittenden. As well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Lewis is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Pearl Henderson, his brother, Bill Henderson and son, Russell Henderson.
A special thank you to the staff and volunteers at Covenant Hospital for their loving care and support.
