Larry B. Phipps

Mr. Larry Bernard Phipps, age 85, passed away Sunday morning, June 23, 2024, at his residence.

Larry was born on April 11, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, to Claude “Bernard” & Lila Phipps (née Garner). Larry met the former, Evelyn Hutchinson. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on March 21, 1964. Together they raised their two children, Dana and Kirk, shared countless memories, and celebrated 57 years of marriage before Evelyn's passing in November of 2021. Larry honorably served our nation with the Army National Guard. Prior to retirement, Larry worked as an electrician with General Motors at the V-8 Engine Plant. Further, he was a lifetime member of the Millington Bulldog Motorcycle Club and was passionate about his motorcycles and racing. Larry also served on many committees with the Arbela Township Board. He was very active with radio-controlled airplanes. Also, he was a great supervisor, organizer, and mentor.

He is survived by his: daughter, Dana Pruitt; son, Kirk Phipps; four grandchildren: Jared, Hannah, Isaac, and Nathan; great-grandson, Elijah; great-granddaughter, Evelyn; sister, Alice Whiren; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn; and parents, Bernard & Lila Phipps.

A Celebration of Larry’s life will be held at the Arbela Township Hall at 12 p.m. (NOON) on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
