Larry L. Miner

Larry Lynn Miner of Vassar, Michigan, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away Tuesday, March 4th, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Larry was born February 25th, 1941 in Saginaw, Michigan to Clifford and Donna Miner (Bissell). He graduated from Vassar High School in 1959 and went on to join the Navy. He served until 1966 when he was honorably discharged. He married Virginia A. Gibson on October 8th, 1960 and they eventually made their home in Vassar. 

Larry worked for General Motors for 32 years as an electrician. He was a very handy guy and could fix almost anything. If he didn’t know how to fix it, he figured it out. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, golf, and his daily walks on the Rail Trail where he always had treats in his pocket for the dogs he met. 

Together with his wife, they had three daughters who, with their families, are left to cherish his memory; Teri and Don Moore, Vassar, Michigan, Trisha and David Moore, Concord, New Hampshire, Sheri and Jeff Karst, Frankenmuth, Michigan. Also surviving are his brother, Gary (Ann) Miner, sisters-in-law Judy Gibson, Sharon (Ron) Foskett, and Ann Hecht, grandchildren Taylor (Richard) Tyson-Knapp, Colton Tyson (Hannah Pease), Virginia Moore, Makenna Karst, Kadee Karst, Kinzlee Karst, and Cierra (Thomas) Smith as well as several nieces, nephews, and close friends. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Virginia, and brothers-in-law Herbert Hecht and Gerald Gibson. 

The family will receive friends at Hanlin Funeral Home on Sunday, March 9th, 2025 from 1:00-5:00 with a short memorial service and dinner to follow.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to the family to create a “Doggie Station” on the Vassar Rail Trail or to the Vassar Food Pantry.
