Joan V. Harrington

Joan Verena Harrington, passed peacefully from this world to sit at the feet of Jesus on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at home with family at her side, at the age of 90.

Joan was born on July 11, 1932, to the late H. Wesley & Eileen (Franzel) Briggs in Vassar, MI. Joan married the love of her life, Gerald “Butch” Eldon Harrington on November 17, 1956, at the Vassar Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2010. She retired from the state bank in Vassar in 1975. Further, she delivered the Cass River Trader with her husband, Butch, for several years. Joan was also a former member of God’s Lighthouse Church in Clio, MI. Above all, Joan greatly loved her family and spending time and caring for her beloved grandchildren.

Left to cherish Joan’s memory are her children: Lori (Rev. Tim Sr.) Hall of Iron River, MI, Marianne Harrington of Millington, MI, Rev. Jerry (Linda) Harrington of Caro, MI; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Janice) Briggs of Millington, MI; sisters, Marlene McMahan of Mt. Morris, MI, and Glenda Kirt of Mt. Morris, MI; as well many special nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; and her parents.

A celebration of Joan’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Vassar Church of the Nazarene (3822 W. Saginaw Rd, Vassar, MI 48768); visitation at church from 12 p.m. until the time of service. Reverend Timothy Hall Sr. and Reverend Jerry Harrington will co-preside.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family discretionary fund under the care of Marianne Harrington.
