Hugh H. Fisher

Mr. Hugh Herbert Fisher, age 70, our family-oriented, loving, and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Hugh was born on January 4, 1955, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Richard, Sr. & Janet Fisher (née Thompson). He was raised alongside his siblings and graduated from Vassar High School with the class of 1974. In the 9th grade, he met the love of his life, Devra Elaine Gould. The high school sweethearts were wed on June 28, 1975, and shared countless memories, raised their children Heather & Nickolas, and celebrated over 49 years of marriage. Before retirement, Hugh worked as an O.D. grinder for over 40 years. He was a member of the Tuscola Community Church. Hugh enjoyed all that the outdoors had to offer including hunting, fishing, and trapping. He also enjoyed watching baseball. Above all, family was most important to Hugh and especially the time he spent with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed but his legacy lives on through his beautiful family and loving wife. 

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Devra Fisher; daughter, Heather (Greg) Reinke; son, Nickolas (Brandy) Fisher; grandchildren: Gregory, Kaitlin, Brandon, Aubree, and Mitchell; sister, Jeanne Zarko; in-laws: William Niedrich, Dorene Kruchkow, and Diane (Mark) Turner; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and faithful four-legged companions, McGee and Lucy.

Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, Richard, Sr. & Janet Fisher; sister, Tracey Niedrich; brother, Richard Fisher, Jr.; brother-in-law, Samuel Kruchkow; and father-and-mother-in-law, James & Velva Rhoten.

Visitation for Hugh will be at Hanlin Funeral Home in Vassar on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services for Hugh will follow at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.; visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. and lasts until the time of service.
