Mr. George “Bud” E. Bigger of Millington, MI passed away early Friday, September 30, 2022, at the age of 89.
George was the son of the late Otto & Jennie (Marvin) Bigger and was born on September 15, 1933, in Vienna Twp of Montmorency County, Michigan. George served our country during the Korean War in the US-Army and was awarded the Soldier's Medal of Valor for rescuing one of his fellow soldiers from a burning building. When he returned home, he went to work for General Motors in the Buick Motor Division as a Millwright and retired after 30 plus years of service. George married Miss Carral J. Golombeski on December 8, 1956, and together they celebrated 64 years of marriage before Carral passed away in September of 2020. George loved hunting, fishing, loved his family and the grandkids, he loved children in general. He was an accomplished quilter, making over 1,000 quilts that have gone all over the world. Making quilts for George was like assembling a puzzle, and he loved a good puzzle. He was also a craftsman, handyman and the “fixer of everything”. His maple syrup, pies and pumpkin muffins were a favorite of family gatherings. Family was his pride and joy of life. Along with his other passions, he could be found serving his local church and community by donating his time and resources through food pantries and clothing give aways, alongside his wife.
George’s legacy includes his seven children. Beverly (Dale) Benish, Laura (Bigger) Millman, Steve (Laura) Bigger, Jeffery (Vicky) Bigger, Carrie (Bigger) McGrath, Annetta (John) Ferrara and Timothy (Melody) Bigger, also 18 grandchildren plus spouses and 19 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Besides his wife and parents, George is also preceded in death by his 3 siblings.
