Gail DeMott

March 25, 1938 — December 17, 2022

It is with sad hearts that the family of Gail Crystal DeMott announce that she passed away on
December 17, 2022 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on March 25, 1938 and lived
her entire life in the State of Michigan.

As the mother of three sons, her patience, love and faith were tested over the years. She was their
first love and never failed them. Gail knew she was loved by her boys. In her final hours on this earth,
they were by her side, showering her with soft whispers and tender touches of love and affection.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, James Oliver Thayer and mother Opal Crystal Thayer; her
husband Bert DeMott; and her sister, Carol Roth. She is survived by her brothers Larry (Jeri) and Donald
Thayer; brother in-law Dale Roth; her three sons, Rodger (Suzanne) Pitkin, Ronald (Micki) Pitkin, and
John (Tiffany) Pitkin; her four grandchildren, Patrick, Jessica, Sean (Coralea) and Emmalea Pitkin; and
great grandchild, Marshall Pitkin.

She had Associate degrees in Theology and Art, but Art was her true passion. She was a gifted artist
who had a yearly shop at the Michigan Renaissance Festival where she and her sister sold their artwork
and pottery. Her legacy will be passed on to her family with many beautiful paintings and artwork that
will be cherished forever.

Her faith in God was strong. She attended multiple churches of different denominations in different
locations; each time sharing her life experience and talents. Over the years, not only did she teach adult
Bible classes, but she also donated her biblical artwork to the churches and most recently, to Wellspring
Lutheran Services.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Wellspring in Frankenmuth and the staff
at Ascension St. Mary’s in Saginaw for taking care of Mom during this difficult time.

Hanlin Funeral Home has been assisting the family with arrangments.
