Eugene Simon

Eugene L. Root Jr (Papa) and Samuel A. Simon (grandson to Eugene) flew home together to be with Jesus late Sunday afternoon July 3, 2016, Eugene was 54 and Samuel was 9.

Eugene is the son of Eugene L. and Helen (Blodgett) Root Sr. and was born on July 6, 1961 in Flint, Michigan. On July 14, 1979 Eugene married Miss Susan Russom, and together they have celebrated 36 years of marriage. Eugene was the owner of E & S Sheet Metal which he had been operating for the past 26 years. He loved spending time with family especially the grandchildren, loved hunting making maple syrup, and most of all loved flying.

Samuel was the son of Tammy (Root) and Adam Simon. He was born on May 30, 2007 in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Samuel had just completed third grade and was moving on to the fourth grade this fall at the Millington Kirk School. Samuel loved hunting, the TV-show Nature’s Deadliest, and he loved snakes. He loved to read and was known for his hugs, especially the moose hug.

We don’t know why they had to leaves us on that Sunday, but Samuel and Papa left together; their love, laughter and hugs will be missed but never forgotten, and heaven has gained a great team.

Eugene leaves his wife Susan. He leaves also three children; Jamie and husband Danny Brandle, Tammy and husband Adam Simon, and Bryon and wife Lesa Root. Eugene leaves also five grandchildren; Shane, Jasmine, Kathryn (Katie),Karlee and Abby, his parents; Mr. & Mrs. Eugene L. and Helen Root Sr., a brother Dale and wife Cathy Root, a sister Donna and husband Harry Daniels, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Eugene is preceded in death by his grandparents, and his grandson Samuel Simon.

Samuel leaves his Mama, and Dada; Adam and Tammy (Root) Simon, a sister; Kathryn(Katie) Simon. His grandpa and grammy; Dave and Cindy Simon, and his Nana Susan Root. He leaves also aunt Jamie and uncle Danny Brandle, uncle Bryon and aunt Lesa Root, uncle Aaron and aunt Kim Simon, cousins; Shane, Jasmine, Karlee, Abby and Evan. Samuel is preceded in death by his great grandparents, Presley (Ed) and Margaret Simon, great uncle Price Simon, and Papa Root, and Granny O.

The Root and Simon Families will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home on Thursday July 7, 2016 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services for Eugene and Samuel will be 11:00 am on Friday July 8, 2016 at the Millington Church of God (4855 Barnes Road Millington, MI 48746). Eugene (Papa) and Samuel left this world together and they will be laid to rest together following the funeral services at the Pinegrove Cemetery in Arbela Township. Pastor David Boillat will deliver the funeral message and committal prayer at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers; gifts of remembrance can be directed to either the Root family or the Simon family.
