Erna Reinert

Erna Ottilie Paulina Reinert, 97, of Millington passed away peacefully on Monday, November 15, 2021.  Erna was born July 9, 1924, the daughter of Ernest and Ida (Grueber) Petzold.  She was united in marriage with Erwin Reinert on April 30, 1944, sharing 66 years of marriage. Together they worked their family farm with dairy cattle and cash crops. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Millington, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. At St Paul, she was a choir member for many years and a member of the LWML-Dorcas Society, for which she enjoyed baking and sewing quilts for church bazaars and World Relief. She had a heart for helping others in need.

Left to honor her memory are her four children:  Kenneth (Virginia) Reinert, Diane Sayles-Blue (Bob Irving), Laurel (Bill) Woodward, and David (Janet) Reinert, 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, 1 sister, Dorothy (Kenneth) Platt, a brother-in-law, Fred Hoppe, a special friend, Joyce Wager, as well as many brothers-in law and sisters-in-law.

Erna was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin, a son, James, 2 sons-in-law, Kieth Sayles Sr, and Zane Blue, a great-granddaughter, Olivia, 2 brothers, Richard (Luella) Petzold and Melvin (Loraine) Petzold, and a sister, Alta Hoppe.

The family would like to invite friends to Hanlin Funeral Home on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. for a time of visiting. The funeral or Erna will be on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington, MI with a time of visiting at 10 a.m. before the service begins. In lieu of flowers please make a memorial donation to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Millington Community Center Food Bank.
