Elaine P. Engel

Mrs. Elaine P. Engel, age 93, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw.

Elaine was born in Detroit, Michigan, on April 21, 1931, to Cleveland & Josephine Myers. She grew up in Detroit alongside her sister, Marion. Elaine married Don Hambaum and together they had a son, Mark. In 1978, Elaine married Fred Engel and they were married for 27 years before his passing in 2005. Elaine and her family enjoyed Higgins Lake for over 50 years. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and shooting pool at Spike Horn. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Houghton Lake, a former member of the Roscommon VFW. For the past four years she has been a resident of Winter Village in Frankenmuth and a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Pat) Hambaum; granddaughter, Abigail Hambaum; nephew, Robert (Martha) Klein; great-niece, Lisa; great-nephew, David; as well as extended family, and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Engel; and sister, Marion Klein.

Funeral services for Elaine will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville; visitation will begin at church at 10:00 a.m. and last until the time of service. Elaine will be laid to rest alongside Fred at a later date in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
