Denise McKeon

Denise Carol McKeon of Millington passed away suddenly at her Millington residence Sunday morning April 13, 2014, Denice was 69.

Born on January 1, 1945 Denise was the daughter of the late Ray & Dorothy (Blackbird) Kemmer. Denise married Francis McKeon on September 17, 1982. Together they shared 32 years of marriage. They lived a very full and rewarding life together and Francis loved and supported Denise in all of her many endeavors. Denise was a proud foster parent for special needs children in Tuscola County for more than 37 years. In addition to raising her own children and being a foster parent, Denise went on to raise 3 of her granddaughters and one great-grandson Nicolle Diehl, Arica Lansford. Rachael (Lansford) Colman, Hunter Sublett.

Denise was a rescuer of both people and animals. She took in anyone in need and gave them food and shelter even if that meant she went without. Denise was a lifelong animal lover and rescued any type of animal in need. In addition to the many cats and dogs that Denise rescued, she has also had pigs in the house, a Gibon ape and many different species of birds. Denise was a bartender for many years at the Vassar Eagles Club #2380, where she made many friends and memories. In her younger years, Denise loved to play league sports such as softball and bowling. Denise was an avid crafter, even dedicating a room in her home to her handmade artwork.

Denise lived her life on her own terms and didn't hold back anything. Denise gave her life to her family, making sure that they were all taken care of. She loved having her family around her and enjoyed hosting the many gatherings each year. Denise's memory will be cherished and she will be missed by all.

Denise leaves husband Frank, children: Troy & wife Michelle Jones, Renise Jones, Todd & wife Amy Jones, Tommy Jones, Beth McKeon, Marcus McKeon, Nicole McKeon, 8-grandchildren, 8-great-grandchildren, 2-sisters Judy & husband Ray West, Renee & husband Shelby Lacewell,1-brother Ray & wife Vivian Kemmer, as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Besides her parents Denise is preceded in death by a son Tony Jones.

Service Information

The family has honored Denise's request and cremation has taken place. There will be a time to visit with the family on Friday April 18, 2014 at the Hanlin Funeral Home from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, a brief eulogy and prayer will be held at 11:00 am, followed by a memorial dinner at the Vassar Fraternal Order of the Eagle Areas #2380, of which everyone will be invited to joint for a time of fellowship and a dinner.
