Darlene's family will welcome visitors to Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Darlene's memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington; visitation at church from 12:00 PM and lasting until the time of service.

Darlene Olga Petzold, age 70, a lifetime Millington resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Covenant Hospital – Cooper Campus with family at her side.

Born to the late Albert & Olga (Geyer) Petzold on October 6, 1953, the youngest of four children. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church where she also attended school K-8. Afterward, she attended Millington High School and graduated with the class of 1972. She loved her nephews, nieces, and especially her dog, Cocoa, and outside cat, Molly Jon. She grew up on the centennial family farm and lived there the entirety of her life. She loved working outside until it became harder for her. She worked for Burns’ Chicken Farm and at the Bavarian Inn Lodge with the housekeeping department and then the outside grounds with her nephew, Mark.

Besides her loving pets Cocoa & Molly Jon, she leaves her brother, Paul (Karen) Petzold; nephews: Mark (Dana) Carsten, David Carsten, Johnathan Petzold; great nieces: Heather, Sarah, and Lillian; great-nephews, Douglas and Dylan; several great-great-nephews & nieces; as well as many family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Dale; sister, Charlotte; and nephew, Steven.

The family extends their sincere thanks to the nurses in the ICU and 3rd Floor at Covenant – Cooper. Special thank you to Steve, Sandy, Judy, and Renee for helping when needed.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may direct donations to St. Paul Lutheran Church or a charity of one’s choice.
