Charlene K. Balfour

Mrs. Charlene “Char” Kay Balfour, age 72, our loving, kind, caring, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Fisher Senior Care & Rehab Center in Mayville, Michigan, surrounded by her loving family.

Char was born on April 2, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, to Earl & Lois (née Anderson) Whitis. On March 4, 1972, Char married the love of her life, Neil Balfour. Together they celebrated 52 years of marriage, shared countless memories, and raised their children. Before retirement, Char owned and operated Shape, Wrap, & Roll Beauty Salon. Char was an avid fan of Elvis Presley, often listening to his music and traveling to Elvis events & impersonators. A woman of faith, Char was a longtime member of the Millington United Methodist Church and was involved in the Women’s Group, Youth Group, and bake sales. She also enjoyed walking, traveling to Arizona to visit family, and scrapbooking. Above all, Char loved her family and was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren. She never missed any recital, event, or game and was her grandchildren’s biggest supporter and cheerleader. She will be deeply missed.

Charlene is forever loved by her husband of 52 years, Neil Balfour; children: Renee (Chad) Dugas, Neil Balfour, Destany (Shane) LeVan, and Melissa (Jason) Trato; grandchildren: Christopher, Ashten, Austin, Alyssa, Paige, Kenzie, Nicholas, Keyton, Adeline, Emelia, Gabe, Sophia, Bristol, and Brason; brothers, Rick Whitis, and Mark (Joan) Whitis; brother-in-law, Clarence Brewer; and nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl & Lois; sisters-in-law, Darlene Whitis, and Marti Brewer; and brother-in-law, David Balfour.

Private arrangements have been made.
